With our Pisa and Vinci private tour we’ll show you the city of famous “leaning tower” and Vinci, birthplace of the famous Leonardo da Vinci who died in 1519: exactly 500 years ago!
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Florence and drive you to Pisa (51 miles West of Florence), although Pisa is known worldwide for its leaning tower (the bell tower of the city’s cathedral), the city contains more than 20 other historic churches, several medieval palaces and various bridges across the Arno; much of the city’s architecture was financed from its history as one of the Italian maritime republics; visit to the monumental complex of Piazza dei Miracoli: Cathedral, Bell Tower, Baptistery, and Monumental Cemetery. We’ll then drive to Vinci (28 miles West of Florence) where Leonardo was born and where he spent the first 16 years of his life. Leonardo was born in 1452 and Vinci still preserves the same urban and countryside landscape it had when genius of the Renaissance was born. Leonardo lived in Florence, Rome, Milan, France, but he was back to Vinci regularly because of his bond to the place of his childhood and adolescence. It was in Vinci that young genius started the investigation of the natural phenomena including his hydraulic experiments in the Vincio, the small river of the town. Leonardo died in Amboise, France, in 1519 and Vinci commemorates the 500 years after the death of his most illustrious citizen with many cultural events. This tour includes the visit to the “Leonardo Museum”, the oldest collection dedicated entirely to his work as scientist, technologist and engineer, situated in the Castle of the Counts Guidi in Vinci; The “Church of the Holy Cross”, still preserving the baptismal font where Leonardo was baptized; “Leonardo and His Paintings”, set in Villa il Ferrale, a didactic exhibition that hosts full scale, HD reproductions of all Leonardo’s paintings; Leonardo’s birthplace, Anchiano, a small hamlet 2 Miles far from Vinci, it hosts the “House-museum” where Leonardo was born, with an HD digital reproduction of Leonardo’s Last Supper.
